Cristiano Rafael combines his knowledge of graphic design with Brazilian mural art in his course, much of which will focus on his plotting/stencil technique of silkscreen printing.
Students will come away from his class with solid, hands-on knowledge of the basic steps needed to create their own designs and prints. With a printing technique requiring no lamps or emulsion, his method will allow students to complete projects in an accessible, low-budget way at home or in a small studio once they’ve completed his course.
Part of the class time will include field trips to see various works of Brazilian art around the city of Amsterdam, and hear Reis explain the history and inspiration of each.
Note: A laptop with Photoshop and InDesign is needed for this class. Laptops can be reserved at MK24 on a first come first serve basis. Laptop reservations must be noted on the enrollment form by students who need one.
