Do you want to make your own clay drum? Udu is an ancient musical instrument originally from Nigeria, also known as ‘sound vessel’. Because of its original sound it can be found in a wide range of music styles, starting from folk to electronic. It also has been introduced as a therapeutic instrument, good for relaxing and meditation in connection with our inner space. Kids also love it!
In this workshop I invite you to learn the basics of hand modeling with clay by enjoying the process of two days working on your own ceramic drum.
Previous experience with ceramics is not necessary. But it is important to note that depending on your personal rhythm of work (we are all different) you might allow me to assist and help you to finish your work in time.
It is a beautiful workshop with deep sounds, heartbeat sounds. Teenagers are also welcome!
Clay and firing of the piece are included. After three (four weeks) you can come back and pick up your Udu.
Watch a short impression of this workshop when I gave it in Chile.
